Warranty & Inspection.

1. Voluntary 12-month warranty against defects

Race Reels® provides a voluntary 12-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, beginning on the original purchase date, for products purchased from Race Reels® or an authorised Race Reels® reseller in Australia.

2. What the voluntary warranty covers

Subject to assessment, the voluntary warranty covers a defect in the product’s materials or manufacture that was present when supplied or arose during normal, intended use within the warranty period.

If a valid claim is accepted, Race Reels® will repair or replace the defective product or component, or provide another appropriate remedy. The remedy available under the Australian Consumer Law may differ and is not restricted by this paragraph.

3. What the voluntary warranty does not cover

To the extent permitted by law, the voluntary warranty does not cover damage, deterioration or failure caused by:

·       normal wear and tear, including use-related surface fuzzing, abrasion, cuts, tears, fraying, worn stitching, fading or contamination;

·       contact with sharp or rough edges, inadequate edge protection, dragging, crushing, pinching or trapping the webbing;

·       overloading, impact, a collision, load shift, or shock loading beyond the product’s rated capacity or intended operating conditions;

·       incorrect selection, installation, tensioning, storage, cleaning, maintenance or use;

·       heat, flame, welding spatter, chemicals, fuels, solvents, acids, alkalis, excessive UV exposure, salt or corrosion;

·       modification, unauthorised repair, removal or alteration of labels, or use of incompatible components;

·       failure to follow product instructions, rated-capacity information, warnings, applicable load-restraint requirements or a reasonable inspection and maintenance process; or

·       continued use after damage, abnormal operation or a safety concern became apparent.

These exclusions do not apply where the condition was caused by an underlying manufacturing defect or where applying the exclusion would unlawfully restrict a consumer guarantee or other non-excludable right.

4. Wear, abrasion and fraying

Webbing is a wear component. Fraying or damage can develop through abrasion, contact with load edges, contamination, environmental exposure and repeated use. Wear arising from use is not itself a manufacturing defect.

5. Inspection before every use

The operator must inspect the complete ratchet, webbing, hooks, keeper, stitching, reel, fasteners, locking components and labels before every use. Do not use the assembly if any part is damaged, excessively worn, not operating correctly or of uncertain condition.

Remove the assembly from service if inspection identifies, for example:

·       cuts, tears, holes, broken yarns, significant fuzziness or fraying, damaged stitching, knots, burns, melting, chemical attack, contamination or abnormal stretching of webbing;

·       a cracked, bent, distorted, heavily worn or corroded ratchet, hook, keeper, reel, spindle, handle, pawl, fastener or locking component;

·       a ratchet, reverse function, reel or lock that jams, slips, fails to engage securely or does not operate as intended;

·       missing, loose or altered components, or an unreadable or missing rated-capacity label; or

·       any other condition that creates doubt about the assembly’s integrity or capacity.

Do not attempt to test suspect equipment under load. Quarantine and clearly identify it until it has been replaced or assessed by a competent person.

6. Service life and the 12-month review point

There is no single calendar lifespan that makes a load-restraint assembly safe in every application. Service life depends on frequency and severity of use, load and vehicle conditions, edge contact, road conditions, storage, contamination, weather exposure, maintenance and incident history.

Race Reels® recommends a documented formal inspection of each assembly at least every 12 months, and more often in intensive, harsh or high-frequency service. For heavily used commercial equipment, or where inspection records and use history cannot be assured, a fleet may adopt a conservative scheduled replacement cycle of 12 months or less.

The 12-month review point does not permit continued use of damaged equipment until that date. Equipment must be removed sooner whenever wear, damage, abnormal operation, overload or uncertain history is identified.

After a collision, significant load shift, suspected overload, abnormal shock event or other incident that may have imposed unusually high forces, immediately quarantine the assembly and arrange replacement.

7. Making a warranty claim

1.       Stop using and safely quarantine the product if a defect or safety concern is suspected.

2.       Email sales@racereels.com.au or phone 0412 304 849 with the order or invoice number.

3.       Describe the issue and provide clear photographs or video of the complete assembly, the affected area, labels and relevant packaging.

4.       Provide reasonably available information about product age, frequency of use, load type, edge protection, storage, maintenance and any incident or overload.

5.       Wait for written assessment or return instructions. Do not send the product to a courier depot or other address without approval.

We may need to inspect the product before confirming the cause and remedy. A request for reasonable information or assessment does not limit your legal rights.

8. Claim expenses

For an accepted voluntary warranty claim, Race Reels® will meet reasonable approved return, repair or replacement costs. Contact us before arranging freight. If the claim is not covered by the voluntary warranty, this does not determine whether another remedy is available under the Australian Consumer Law.

9. Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
