The Race Reels® journey began when we were asked to make a better ratchet strap to secure loads for surfboards of all things. Until that point, we had just put up with the problematic nature of common ratchets and the frustration and annoyance associated with using them, like everyone else around the world. The excess strap issue, threading and pre-flattening webbing, hand rolling and unrolling, tangles, jams, you know, the general tedious and time consuming common ratchet dynamic.   

Our team had invented innovative commercially successful solutions in other industries, so we shifted our attention to solving this dinosaur of contraptions. An extensive Reasearch and Development process analysed the common ratchet in detail. We separated the problems in to four different phases to form as comprehensive a solution as possible. The loading phase. The transit phase. The unloading phase. And the storage phase. 

A total of 17 separate problems were identified and solved. The result being a patented Side-Loading Ratchet & Reel System that boosts both Productivity & Safety - Race Reels. 

Even the name was derived from the fact that transport is essentially an ongoing race against the clock. An expensive clock. So, if loads can be secured faster in the race against time, then that can only be a good thing.

Race Reels® not only save operators and fleets precious time, but they also set a higher Safety Standard when compared to conventional ratchets. Operators are no longer exposed working far off the side of the vehicle tending to full length straps, which put them at constant collision risk or danger.

The Reel System provides an additional safety system by permanently housing the strap, it means there is no excess that can self-unwind in transit and risk load securement. So, it is a win for operators and their organisations and their customers. Faster & Easier load securement means more deliveries and more happy customers!

We are based in South East Queensland, but are setting up another distribution centre in Adelaide mid-late 2026. However, we also plan to expand distribution globally.
